£117,000 in Business Cashback Cards: Six UK Client Examples

While helping businesses explore loans or asset finance, we often discuss another option: a business cashback credit card.

For some companies, a card can help manage everyday spending, buy stock or bridge the gap between paying suppliers and receiving customer payments. It may also earn cashback on eligible purchases.

During September 2026, SME Finance Hub helped six UK businesses access credit card facilities totalling £117,000. The examples span construction, healthcare, retail, electrical contracting, short-term accommodation and vehicle repair.

These figures are approved credit facilities, not amounts necessarily spent or cash paid out. These are individual client examples, not a promise of approval or a typical limit. Every application is assessed on its own merits.

    Recent business credit card examples

The companies sought their cards for practical business costs:

    • £50,000 for a construction company to support equipment, supplies and stock purchases, helping preserve cash flow for other costs such as wages.
    • £2,000 for a healthcare business for smaller stock purchases and to help establish a record of business credit use.
    • £20,000 for a retail business to purchase stock.
    • £10,000 for an electrician and boiler installer to buy items for customers while awaiting invoice payments.
    • £5,000 for a short-term accommodation business to purchase new items for its properties.
    • £30,000 for a car repair garage to help fund equipment and general stock.

Added together, these facilities total £117,000. They show how different companies can use a business card to support different spending needs. Card transactions must be permitted by the provider's terms; a card facility is not the same as cash funding.

Why discuss a card alongside a loan or asset finance?

A business credit card is not right for every funding need. But it can be useful for regular operating expenses, including stock, materials and smaller purchases.

A loan or asset finance may be more suitable for a larger, planned investment. A card may offer more flexibility for eligible day-to-day spending. The right option depends on the purpose, costs, repayment plan and business circumstances.

When you contact SME Finance Hub, a named broker can discuss a card while also exploring available business loans, asset finance and lines of credit through our specialist lender panel. That gives you a chance to compare routes rather than considering just one product.

You can also explore our pages on business credit cards, business loans and asset funding.

What cashback could a card offer?

At the time of writing, the Funding Circle cashback card described on our business credit card page advertises:

    • 2% cashback for the first six months, up to £2,000 cashback.
    • 1% uncapped cashback after the introductory period.
    • Up to £250,000 credit limit, subject to assessment.
    • Up to 42 days' interest-free credit, subject to the card terms and repayment arrangements.
    • No foreign exchange fees, with the same cashback rate on eligible international card spending.
    • Transactions that can sync with Xero, Sage and FreeAgent.

Cashback can make routine purchases more rewarding. It should not be a reason to spend more than the business needs or can afford to repay.

Interest may apply if you carry a balance. The card advertises rates from 14.9% per year and a representative 34.9% APR variable. Your rate and credit limit depend on your application and are subject to status. Check the lender's current terms and make sure you understand the repayments before accepting an offer.

No upfront broker fees, no obligation to proceed

There are no upfront broker fees to enquire through SME Finance Hub and no obligation to proceed with an offer.

For these card introductions, Funding Circle pays us a success fee if the application completes. That commission is paid by the provider; we do not charge the client a broker fee for this card introduction.

A named broker will explain how we are paid before you commit. You can read more on our How We Get Paid page.

The card itself may still have interest or other charges under the provider's terms. We will explain the relevant costs, repayments and commission, and you should review the provider's agreement before deciding.

    A straightforward initial enquiry

The initial information needed is limited. You will generally need to provide:

    • Your company name
    • Annual turnover
    • Annual profit
    • Directors' details

You can start an eligibility enquiry online. There is no hard credit search to enquire and no impact on your credit score at that stage. If you choose to proceed with a lender, a full credit check may be required; we will explain that before the step takes place.

The provider may give an indicative decision quickly, but timing depends on the information supplied and its assessment. A named broker helps with the paperwork and explains the next steps.

An indicative decision is not a guarantee of approval. Final terms, limits and timing depend on the lender's assessment. Our application page has more information: enquire about a business cashback card.

    Who can enquire?

This cashback card is for UK-registered limited companies. Our initial screening uses 12 months' trading and £30,000 annual turnover as indicative criteria for this card, rather than a guarantee of eligibility. Funding Circle's current criteria and individual assessment determine whether an offer is available.

Sole traders and partnerships are not eligible for this card. Other finance options may be available depending on your business and circumstances. If you do not fully match the indicative criteria, you can still contact us and a named broker will manually review your enquiry to see whether a specialist product may be available.

A personal guarantee may be required. Your broker will explain any guarantee requirement in the offer before you commit. A guarantee can make a director or owner personally responsible for the debt if the company does not repay it. Do not assume that limited company status removes that responsibility; make sure you understand the agreement before proceeding. Our personal guarantee guide explains more.

    Cards for staff and directors

A company may be able to activate multiple cards, allowing other staff members or directors to have their own card. Additional cards can be requested through the client portal, subject to the provider's terms.

This can make it easier to manage business purchases across a team. It also gives the company a clearer record of card transactions. Check the provider's account settings and terms when requesting additional cards.

Compare the options before you decide

A cashback card is one type of business credit card. Other spending options can include charge cards, low-rate credit cards, secured credit cards and pre-paid cards. A pre-paid card uses money loaded onto it rather than providing borrowing. Availability and eligibility vary by provider, and not every option is available through our panel.

    Consider the following before choosing:

    1. Purpose: Is the funding for everyday spending, stock or a larger investment?
    2. Repayments: Can the business repay the balance on time?
    3. Interest and fees: What costs may apply if you carry a balance?
    4. Credit limit: Does the available limit suit the intended purchases?
    5. Personal guarantee: Do you understand any guarantee requirement?
    6. Other finance: Could a loan, asset finance or line of credit be a better fit?

A business credit card can help manage spending, but it is still borrowing. Compare the full terms, not just the cashback rate.
